07 April 2014

The 24th European Championships in Trampoline Gymnastics have been attributed to the Portuguese Federation of Gymnastics. This event took place in April 2014 in Guimarães in Portugal during 7-13 April.

Twice Olympic Games participant Luba Golovina is in the composition of Georgian team and certainly, Georgians expect successful performance from her side. Nevertheless, our major focus is on the youth team, as the above European Championships represent qualification event for the YOG Nanjing 2014.

6 Georgian trampoline athletes will represent Georgia at the continental championship to obtain quota places for YOG. However, out of the allocated quota places the country is entitled only to one quota among boys and girls per country. In order to succeed in getting qualified all our athletes should rank at least among the first four, however only two gymnasts will travel to Nanjing based on the defined rule. The National Federation and the Council of Coaches should make final selection.

Total 6 athletes will compete at the European Championships in Guimarães and last year world champion Ana Odishvili is among the leading ones who has good skills not only for getting qualification, but for acquiring gold medal. As for the boys major hopes rest on Zurab Nozadze and specialists think that he can easily get place among the first four athletes.
