The Georgian National Olympic Committee summed up year 2015

On December 25, the annual summarizing Session of the Georgian National Olympic Committee took place at Radisson Blue Iveria Hotel ,where heads of Georgian NOC and delegates of the Session summed up the year 2015.

The agenda consisted of 4 main issues:

1. Georgian NOC report of the year 2015
2. Summarizing 13th EYOF "Tbilisi 2015"
3. Preparation for XXXI Olympic Games
4. Miscellaneous

The Session was led by the Georgian NOC President Leri Khabelov and First Vice-president Elguja Berishvili . Honorary guests of the Session were Mayor of Tbilisi David Narmania, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia Tariel Khechikashvili, Chairman of Tbilisi City Council Giorgi Alibegashvili and 1st Secretary of the Embassy of Brazil in Tbilisi Georgia Ms. Daniella Cintra Chaves.

Participants of the Session received informative booklets with the detailed report on the various sport activities accomplished by Georgian NOC during 2015.

"The year 2015 was special for Georgian Olympic Movement. Our country passed important exam this summer, hosting XIII EYOF honorably. According to the evaluation of international sport organizations, representatives of participating countries and observers, the Festival was one of the most successful" - stated Leri Khabelov.

Before the EYOF, First European Games took place in Baku with representation of the continent's best athletes. 104 Georgian athletes performed in 17 disciplines of 13 sports winning total 16 medals, including 2 gold.

During the Session NOC awarded the athletes qualified for Rio 2016 Olympic Games with special cards and gifts.

Subject to the decision of Georgian NOC the world champion in freestyle wrestling Vladimer Khinchegashvili was nominated as the year's best athlete. He received special prize and other commemorative gifts.

This year NOC of Georgia worked effectively for promotion of Olympism and implementation of various important educational programs aimed at social protection of veteran and active sportsmen establishing close collaboration with partners, local and international sport organizations.

Presentation clip of EYOF "Tbilisi 2015" and video footage with 2015 important Olympic events was presented to the delegates.

For special contribution made to preparation and organization of the EYOF "Tbilisi 2015", Leri Khabelov awarded with the Olympic Order of Georgia Mayor of Tbilisi David Narmania, Chairman of EYOF Tbilisi 2015 Organizing Committee Aleksi Akhvlediani , Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia Tariel Khechikashvili. First Vice-president of the Georgian NOC Elguja Berishvili handed over the Olympic Order to the NOC President.

Olympic medals of Georgia were presented also to the Chairman of Tbilisi City Council Mr. Giorgi Alibegashvili, Deputy Mayor Irakli Liqvinadze, First Deputy Head of the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia Akaki Lodia and others.

Heads of the major departments of the EYOF Tbilisi 2015 OC were awarded with Georgian Olympic medals for their commitment and outstanding contribution made to the successful and high level organization of the Festival.
