Who said 13 is unlucky number?! It was exactly thirteenth medal of Georgian athletes obtained at the First European Games in Baku and that was gold! It belonged to the glowing star of Georgian sport, judoka Avtandil Tchrikishvili.

Avtandil acquired impressive victory over his Russian opponent Ivan Nifontov in the final 81 kg. match. Georgian sport fans live cheer was heard from every corner and the hall was full of fluttering national flags. Starting from 16th finals the best judoka of Europe of the year 2014 has bravely defeated with Ippon one after another all his opponents from Bulgaria, Estonia, Belarus and Germany thus justifying once again expectations of his fans bringing Georgian delegation the first gold medal.

Referring has greatly affected 73kg final where Nugzar Tatalashvili met Israeli team member. Georgian athlete received in a minute quite confusing warning with three Shido. Finally, Tatalashvili lost with Ippon obtaining silver as a result, nevertheless the medal of this type won at the European Games is quite worthy as well.

Neither the Olympic champion Lasha Shavdatuashvili could succeed in the same weight category over his French opponent Pierre Duprat losing with Yuko in thirty-second final leaving the contest.
