18 January 2012

Today, at the Georgian National Olympic Committee, the trampoline jumper Lyuba Goloviva received congratulations on gaining the license for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. Recently she earned the Olympic license at the International Qualifying Tournament in Trampolining in London.

The press conference, chaired by the GEONOC President Gia Natsvlishvili, was attended by the First Vice President of GEONOC Ramaz Goglidze, GEONOC Vice President Davit Gobejishvili, President of National Gymnastics Federation Merab Chikava, its Vice President Rusudan Khopheria, Chief Coach of Georgian National team Zaur Sulashvili and Lyuba's personal coach Vladimir Golovin.

Gia Natsvlishvili said he didn't doubt that Lyuba Golovina would gain the Olympic license and added that she has ample skill and strength to fight for a medal at the forthcoming London Olympics. At the same time he regretted that the other aspirant for the second license in trampoling Tengiz Koshkadze sustained an injury prior to the World Championship and fell out of the licensing marathon.

Lyuba Golovina said that she had missed over one month of extensive training due to the trauma and couldn't meet the tournament in better shape; however, she succeeded to fulfill her main mission and managed to join the group of 8 best athletes. She promised that she would get in her usual good sporting shape for the Olympics and bring a medal from London to Georgia.

The London Olympics will be the second one for the 21 year-old Golovina. At the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games she took the 6th place.
According to the tradition, at the end of the press conference, Lyuba Golovina put her signature on the symbolic board of ‘London-2012' licensees.
