Meeting of the Ambassador of Hungary in Georgia with the NOC President
On November 8 Special and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Hungary to Georgia Mr. Sandor Szabo visited Georgian NOC and held an introductory meeting with the NOC President Leri Khabelov. As it turned out during conversation Hungarian diplomat was quite close to sport being well informed about the history of the Olympic Games and Georgian sport.
"I have been in Georgia for almost two years and I always wished to visit the Olympic Committee to meet its leaders, as sport means a lot for me. I had a special feeling when entering this building. I have friendly relations with the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia, had good relations with his father, famous football player.
"In old times I was also a professional goal keeper playing in various teams of Hungary. I regularly attend football matches of Tbilisi "Dinamo" and national team"- says the Ambassador.
The Ambassador was aware of recent events connected with Sochi Olympic Games and our participation in this event. He welcomed the decision not to boycott the Games.
Mr. Sandor Szabo always cheered for Georgian athletes and the only disappointment he felt was in the final match in London when Georgian judoka defeated in the final Hungarian Miklosh Ungvar.
The Ambassador wished Georgian sport further successes and expressed confidence on future effective collaboration with the NOC.
Leri Khabelov expressed gratitude to the Hungarian Ambassador for his interest and warm conversation and recollected that the first great success in his sport carrier was linked with Hungary as he acquired the first great victory and the world champion's title in Budapest.
