CEV President André Meyer – “You Have Achieved Much in Sport to be Proud Of!”
On May 16, 2014 President of the European Volleyball Confederation André Meyer and Vice President Jan Hronek paid a visit to Tbilisi, Georgia. Volleyball is one of the team sports in the program of the EYOF and the guests showed primary interest in the organizational issues of "Tbilisi2015".
Senior officials of the European volleyball met President of the Georgian NOC Leri Khabelov and the Vice President Mamuka Khabareli.
"Volleyball is the beautiful sport having its followers in lots of countries. Georgia has Olympic champion in volleyball. We are small country in territory, but we are proud of our great sport results and rich traditions, while 34 Olympic champions are clear confirmation to this."
"Tbilisi 2015" is rather important for us. We have certain experience of organizing international tournaments; however, it is for the first time when Georgia hosts the big scale forum like this. We wish to reveal not only high organizational level of the event, but want also to reach good sport results. We are confident the number of spectators will be much higher than during previous Festivals"- the NOC President says.
As it was expected CEV President André Meyer concentrated on preparation for the "Tbilisi2015". CEV has signed agreement with the EYOF and only top teams from Europe will take part in the Festival.
"You shouldn't be concerned about being a small country, as you really have much to be proud of. My homeland Luxembourg has only one champion from 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki. I want to assure you that organizing "Tbilisi2015" on high level is not only in your interests, but it is also our great wish. Therefore, we are ready to help you within our possibilities and if you are interested we can send technical personnel from the European Volleyball Confederation to support you"- André Meyer says.
