12 Athletes Ready for Nanjing !

Georgia will be represented with 12 athletes at the approaching Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing taking start on 16th August, 2014.

At the end of the qualification events Georgian athletes quota places were filled up with the licenses acquired in athletics. Our youngsters achieved qualification standards getting 4 more licenses and accordingly at the biggest sport Forum in China Georgian national team will have most of the sportsmen in athletics - "The Queen of Sports".

Following the European Youth Olympic Trials which took place in Baku between 30 May and 1 June 2014 young Georgian athletes performed successfully and were allocated quota places for Nanjing YOG.

Representatives of total 44 countries took part in the above event held in the capital of Azerbaijan. Amongst the successful athletes were Mariam Dzagnidze (4th place)- long jump, Goga Maglakelidze- (7th place)- triple jump, Giorgi Mujaridze -(8th place)- shot put and Giorgi Oniani- (9th place)- hammer throwing.

So, 12 athletes from Georgia are ready to strive for medals in 7 sports (judo, freestyle wrestling, trampoline, swimming, athletics, boxing, fencing) at the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.
