Grand Prix of Varlam Liparteliani

At the Judo Grand Prix tournament in Abu Dabi, where the athletes from 56 countries participated, Georgian national team won one Gold and two Bronze Medals.
The first Georgian Judoist to take place on the podium, was Amiran Papinashvili (60kg weight category), who gained a Bronze Medal and 80 licensing rating points for London-2012 Olympic Games. Heavyweight Zviad Khanjaliashvili followed his suit; he lost to a Korean athlete in the semifinals and contented himself with the 3rd place. Among the trainees of Austrian Coach Peter Zeizenbacher, Varlam Liparteliani (90kg) showed the best result , winning the Champion's title.
Thanks to this victory, Varlam Liparteliani earned 200 rating points and actually ensured for himself the London Olympics' license.
