Ever since Gia Natsvlishvili was elected the President of Georgian National Olympic Committee, he established close relations with national federations, arranged regular meetings with their members and customarily discussed future plans and prospects. The tradition still goes on and it promises to be effective in view of upcoming ‘London 2012' Olympic Games. Most of the licenses for 26 Olympic sports events will be distributed the next year. Besides, there are a number of organizational issues that should be tackled.

Today, at the new office of GEONOC, President Gia Natsvlishvili and Vice President Davit Gobejishvili met with the leaders and coaches of the Federations of Archery, Trampolining, Volleyball, Wrestling, Aquatics and Fencing.

President of Archery Federation Mamuka Katsarava touched the topic of the sole licensing tournament, planned by the next June in the USA. At the American archery tournament the licenses will be distributed for the team competitions in which the strongest teams will take part. 12 teams are expected to compete in archery in London and out of them 9 licenses already have their owners; apart from our national team, the skilled athletes of USA, Spain, Japan, Poland and other countries will fight for the remaining 3 licenses. As for the individual licenses, due to the great injustice that happened last year at the World Championship in Italy, only Cristine Esebua received the Olympic license. According to Katsarava, we have the chance of gaining one individual license among male athletes at the forthcoming European Championship.

Due to Liuba Golovina'a accidental mistake at the tournament in Birmingham, we lost the chance of getting one license in trampolining. Now she will have to compete with 16 participants at the Olympic tests in London on January 13 and try to get in the group of 6 top athletes. The coach of our national team Zaur Sulashvili and Vice President of Trampolining Federation Rusudan Khopheria believe that Liuba can easily take the hurdle.

In beach volleyball we depend on the successful performance of the teams made up of naturalized Brazilian athletes ‘Georgia' and ‘Sakartvelo'. To this end they have to collect the rating points in 7 licensing tournaments that remain till the Olympic Games.

The high-board divers have the last chance to get the licenses in February. Their coach Irakli Bartaia thinks that Chola Chanturia will show good results. He is better prepared psychologically now and he is sure to gain the license, while Shota Korakhashvili has little chances of achieving the success.

In swimming Irakli Revishvili and Davit Bolkvadze are hopefuls for getting the licenses; probably, they will gain at least one ‘wild card'.

The licensing competitions in wrestling are scheduled to start from April and the Olympic licenses will be distributed at the tournaments in Bulgaria, China and Finland. Today we have 4 freestyle wrestling licenses and only one license in Greco-Roman style. However, our nominal program is to gain 12 licenses in both wrestling events, which seems quite feasible.

At least one license is planned in fencing and judging by the ratings, Kakha Magradze has the best chance to win it.
By the words of Gia Natsvlishvili, the major part of our athletes' participation in the licensing tournaments and team practice sessions will be financed by the Georgian National Olympic Committee.
