According to the decision of International Olympic Committee, the Youth Winter Olympic Games of 2016 will take place in Lillehammer, Norway.

By the initiative of IOC, Youth Olympic Games were founded in 2010 and the first Summer Olympics took place in Singapore, in which 5 Georgian athletes participated. Innsbruck, Austria will host the similar Winter Games on January 12-23, next year.

Like full-scale Olympic Games, the Youth Games will take place every 4 years. Nanjing, China will host the next Youth Summer Games and as we have said above, Lillehammer will be the venue of next Winter Games.

As a matter of fact, the athletes of Independent Georgia debuted at the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer.
