The Innsbruck Games Will Close Today

22 January 2012

The youth ‘White Olympics' is nearing its end. Our downhill skiers Susana Gava and Nikoloz Kodanashvili have been participating in the winter sports competitions. It was clear from the very beginning that they had no chance of winning medals in Innsbruck, although, young athletes from Bakuriani received immense experience thanks to their participation in the Youth Olympic Games, which will be of great use for them in future.

Yesterday they took part in the Giant Slalom competition; today they tried their luck at ordinary slalom. The luck went against Kodanashvili, who couldn't even get to the finish line, while Susana Gava performed better than yesterday: she showed the 1.36.40 result and took the 22nd place among 54 participants.
As for the medals, the teams of Germany, China and South Korea were the leaders.

This evening the official ceremony of closing the Games will take place and the first Innsbruck Winter Youth Olympic Games will become an history.
