International Contest ‘Sport and Art’

In autumn of 2011, under the aegis of Georgian National Olympic Committee, International Contest ‘Sport and Art' was announced. It was dedicated to the 30th Summer Olympic Games, which are scheduled to take place in London, in 2012. The objective of the contest is to endorse worldwide the Olympic principles, friendship, mutual respect and promote the ideals of Olympic Charter.
Georgian National Olympic Committee undertook diverse organizational efforts in this direction and announced a local contest to identify the best piece of painting/graphic work and sculpture.
Painters and sculptors from different regions of Georgia took part in the contest. Qualified jury composed of 8 persons, arrived at the decision to estimate the work ‘Wrestlers' by Oleg Timchenko as the best painting and ‘Olympic Hymn' by Levan Vardosanidze as the best sculpture. The two artworks will be sent to the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, where they will participate in the International Contest.
