Triumph of Freestylers And Humble Performance of Greco-Roman Wrestlers at European Championship

European Wrestling Championship in Belgrade, Serbia, proved to be successful for Georgian National team of Freestyle wrestlers The trainees of Coach Zaza Turmanidze staged a wonderful show and won 5 medals in 7 weight categories. Unfortunately, on the 1st day of the tournament, experienced athletes Giorgi Gogshelidze and Otar Tushishvili gave a poor performance.

Besarion Gochashvili and Davit Khutsishvili gained Silver Medal. In the finals they lost to Russian opponents. Davit Modzmanashvili and Malkhaz Zarkua won Bronze Medals, while Davit Marsagishvili received Gold Medal. In the team event Georgian team took the 2nd place, closely following the Russian team.
The performance of Greco-Roman wrestlers were not as successful as of freestylers. Out of Coach Begi Darchia's trainees only Manuchar Tskhadia won Silver Medal.
