Levan Odisharia Was Elected President of Paralympics Committee

A special electoral congress of Georgian Paralympics Committee took place at the ‘Sheraton' Hotel. The participants of the congress elected the Paralympics Committee President, Vice President, Secretary General and members of the Board. They also approved the new statute of Paralympics Committee.

The Congress was attended by the leaders and representatives of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia, Georgian National Olympic Committee and various sports federations .

In 2003-2011Davit Maisuradze served as the President of Paralympics Committee. During the next year the Committee will be headed by Levan Odisharia. 31 out of 37 delegates voted in his favor. Shalva Maisuradze and Rati Ionatamishvili were elected Vice Presidents and Giorgi Tsasidze received the position of Secretary General; The Congress also approved a 9-men Executive Committee.

Irakli Samkurashvili: ‘The new President and the new team of Paralympics Committee will have to overcome a number of serious problems. As before, the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs will assist the Paralympics Committee in future. Moreover, we have to take into consideration the fact that in the forthcoming year the Committee will have to fight for the licenses of Olympic Games'.

Levan Odisharia: ‘I am grateful to the delegates for their support. All of us will have to work hard the next year. Our athletes will do utmost to gain the Olympic licenses. We have other plans as well, and our team will tackle them'.
