The biggest disappointment
01 August 2012
The Georgian judoka Varlam Liparteliani has finished his participation in the Olympics. He defeated Diedon Dolasem from Cameroon in 90 kg category wrestle without any warning. But he lost against a barely known Australian Mark Anthony.
As opposed to the first match Liparteliani was more active against Anthony and took the lead by Yuko. He constantly tried to perform an effective throw afterwards but the opponent made him a counter hold gaining Vazari. In the remaining time Liparteliani tried to attack his opponent and managed to get Yuko which was not enough for qualifying into the next round.
Among five Georgian judokas who have got into the tatami so far only Lasha Shavdatuashvili managed to overpass more than one opponent. Three judokas out of remaining four were defeated in the second round (Betkil Shukvani - 60 kg, Avtandil Chrikishvili - 81 kg, and Varlam Liparteliani - 90 kg.) and only one judoka (Nugzar Tatalashvili - 73) lost in the first tour.
A 100 kg category Lomer Zhorzholiani will take part on the 2nd of August following by heavy weight Adam Okruashvili closing judoists' participation on the 3rd of August.
