23 years ago on October 6, 1989 in Tbilisi at the Palace of Chess was established the Georgian National Olympic Committee.

On March 9, 1992 the international Olympic Committee granted provisional and conditional recognition to the NOC while on 23rd September 1993 National Olympic Committee of Georgia became full member of the IOC at its 99th Session organized in Monaco.
