Presidium of the Georgian Wrestling Federation discusses preparation of Tbilisi European Championships

Presidium of the Georgian Wrestling Federation met on 11th January at the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia and held discussions on the preparations of the European championships to be organized in Tbilisi during 19-24 March.

This important meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Tamaz Tevzadze and President of the Georgian National Olympic Committee Leri Khabelov. In the near future governmental commission will be created under leadership of the Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili studying and considering all issues and outstanding problems. Work group composed of federation authorities and veteran wrestlers has been created to undertake practical steps.

One of the core issues of the agenda was also approval of the Federation Vice Presidents. President of the Wrestling Federation submitted relevant candidatures and the Presidium finally approved to these positions businessman Valeri Gelashvili, world vice champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Bakur Gogitidze and the Head of the City Sport Division Vladimer Kankava who served on this post for years. The Presidium meeting also defined corresponding functions assigned to each of the above Vice President.

President of the Georgian Wrestling Federation initiated creation of the Champions' Club that will bring together all famous wrestlers of the country.
Deputy Minister of Sport & Youth Affairs of Georgia T. Tevzadze outlined that the club system will start operation from the current season and it is not excluded to hold Georgian Club Championships.
