Georgia Rewrote History in Utrecht

Georgian athletes rewrote history at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Utrecht. 8 medals- two gold, three silver and three bronze acquired by Georgian athletes in Utrecht is the best result our athletes achieved in the history of the youth festivals. The country ranked 13th in the team competition. With this result Georgia outstripped strong countries like Belarus, Czech, Ukraine, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Portugal, Croatia, Sweden and others.

On the last day of the competitions Giorgi Dzebisashvili ( heavyweight judo) obtained silver medal. Girl tennis players Maria Bolkvadze and Ana Akhalkatsi defeated Russian opponents in the toughest doubles match in three sets and acquired bronze medal.

On 19th July XII European Youth Olympic Festival will be closed becoming a history. European youth shall assemble in 2015 in the capital Tbilisi.
