In Ozurgeti  (Guria) regional Olympic Committee and Ozurgeti municipality authorities initiated to open in front the Sport Palace in Ozurgeti the start in honor of the Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, twice world and European prizewinner Vakhtang Blagidze.

The Award Ceremony was attended by the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia, First Vice President of Georgian NOC, President Georgian Wrestling Federation, veteran and acive athletes.    

The Minister of Sport and Youth affairs of Georgia Levan Khipiani awarded Vakhtang Blagidze with the title of Knight of Sport. The Champion received also FILA golden order.   

"We have four champions from Guria and it is not enough. There should be more champions, their number should definitely increase". -stated Vakhang Blagdze at the awarding ceremony. ორი და 

Ozurgeti Palace of Sport on this occasion hosted V. Blagidze international tournament which takes traditional character in the region. Wrestlers from different regions took part in the tournament along with the Armenian teams.

In the near perspective Olympic star in honor of the champion shall be also opened in Tbilisi at the Georgian NOC.
