Vladimer Khinchegashvili – Champion of Europe
At the 2014 European Wrestling Championships held in Vantaa, Finland silver medalist of 2012 London Olympic Games Vladimer Khinchegashvili, freestyle wrestler (57kg) took the top place of pedestal. Outstripping all his opponents Georgian wrestler has worthily succeeded in acquiring gold medal. On his way to champion's title Khinchegashvili defeated George Vangelov (6:2), Frenchman Zoheir El Ouarraqe (7:3) and Russian Rustam Ampar (6:4) winning in the final over Ghenadie Tulbea, twice European champion competing for Monaco.
It is not the first title acquired by the wrestler from Gori. Khinchegashvili won silver medal in 2011, bronze-in 2013 and this year -won the coveted gold medal.
Among the trainees of Olympic champion Revaz Mindorashvili, K.Khabalashvili (65kg) was the first wrestler obtaining bronze medal on the very first day of competition. Hopefully, freestyle wrestlers from Georgia will not stop at this achievement only during the European Championships, especially as one more vice champion of "London 2012" is getting ready for the competition.
