From Singapore to Nanjing- 12 licenses in 7 sports

The International Olympic Committee members at the 119th IOC session in Guatemala City approved the creation of a youth version of the Olympic Games and the 1st edition of Summer Youth Olympic Games was organized in Singapore in 2010. Since then the YOG has already become a rather prestigious and prominent Youth Forum worldwide.

2014 Youth Olympic Games program envisages 30 sports and the young athletes across the world have excellent opportunity to show their skills and start their pursuit to the highest summits in sport.

The 2nd YOG will be held during 16-28 August in the city of Nanjing, China. Qualification process was rather tough and only limited number of athletes obtained the quota places in their sports concerned. Georgia had only 5 participants in Singapore in judo, freestyle wrestling and swimming, while in Nanjing our country will be represented with 12 athletes in 7 sports.

Qualification tournaments lasted almost a year completing on June 15. Georgian athletes did their utmost to obtain quota places in 15 sports.

The athletes in judo, freestyle wrestling, athletics, boxing, swimming, trampoline and fencing will try to strive for top places in Nanjing improving previous indicators.

On June 25th at 12:00 hr. at the Georgian NOC offices will be organized meeting with the "Nanjing2014" qualified athletes, their coaches and leaders of the NSFs.
