Volleyball player. 
Played for Tbilisi "Burevestnik" (1955-1964), and Moscow "Dinamo" (1965-1971), national team of the USSR (1959-1967). Champion of the XVIII Olympic Games (1964 Tokyo), European Champion (1967) and a third-prize winner (1963), third-prize winner of the World Championship (1966), winner of the World Cup (1965), two-fold champion of the Student Games (1963, 1965), third-prize winner of the USSR Championship (1965), a two-fold second- (1967, 1971) and a third-prize (1963) winner of the USSR People Sports Contests, Chief Coach of the team of the Moscow Bauman Technical College and the national youth team of the USSR (1976-1977), Chief Coach of men's national team of Georgia (1984-1994), awarded the Vakhtang Gorgasali II class order and the Georgian NOC Order of Honor.
