Champion of the XXII Olympic Games (1980 Moscow), two-fold World Champion (1978, 1981), two-fold European champion (1978, 1980), Champion of the USSR (1981) and Champion of the World University Games (1977). Winner of many international tournaments. Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. recipient of the Vakhtang Gorgasali II class Order and the Order of Honor.
