Second-prize winner of the XIX and XX Olympic Games (1968, Mexico City and 1972, Munich). World Champion (1973) and the second-prize winner (1974). Small Gold Medalist in Snatch at the WCH (1969), European Champion (1972) and the four-fold second-prize winner (1968, 1969, 1971, 1974). Winner of three small gold medals in the European Championships (1972 – snatch, clean and jerk, 1973 - snatch). Six-fold USSRChampion (1969-1974) and a two-fold second-prize winner (1968, 1975). Set three world records: two in snatch – 153,5 kg (1971), 156,0 kg (1972) and total record – 402,5 kg (1972). Honored Master of Sports of the USSR.
