Samegrelo regional NOC analyzed at its board meeting results of the activities accomplished in 2016 and approved 2017 Action Plan.

It was emphasized that last year new leadership of the organization initiated and conducted a number of interesting sport events, namely activities to mark the international Olympic Day in 8 cities of the region. Participants of the Olympic run were distributed T-shirts with NOC logo and diplomas. Furthermore, Samegrelo regional championships in Rugby 7^th  and Lelo with 8 participating teams were organized with the financial support of Georgian NOC and funds raised locally together with  mass tournament in futsal. Successful athletes and sport officials received commemorative T-shirts with Rio2016 logo. Samegrelo  NOC took part in all significant events organized in the region including "Tsotneoba" and "Egrisoba". 

In December, Christmas Festival was organized  in Rugby 7th and Lelo between Samegrelo, Imereti and Guria regional teams. Noteworthy is also opening of the regional Olympic museum in Senaki.

"This year we plan to become more active in all directions"- says President of Samegrelo regional NOC, famous rugby player Davit Kilasonia - "First major activity is the Olympic Run dedicated to the International Olympic Day on 23^rd June accompanied with relevant sport events attracting wider part of our population. The athletes born on this date will be awarded with special prizes. In May Senaki will host joint sport games of Samegrelo, Abkhazia, Imereti, Ajara and Guria regional organizations. We also plan to organize regional open championships in Rugby 7^th and Lelo accompanied with a number of interesting events on Olympic education promoting popularization of Olympic values."
