Champion of the Seoul Olympic Games by team total (1988), two-fold third-prize winner of the European Championship (1985 -allaround and parallel bars), two-fold winner of the World Youth Championship (1984- floor exercise and high bar) and the winner of silver prize (1984 - all-around), Champion of the IX (1986) USSR People Sports Contest (axis), a second-prize winner (allround) and two-fold third-prize winner (pommel horse, team total), three-fold second-prize (1985, 1989) winner and two-fold third-prize winner (1988) of the USSR Championship. Performed the first triple somersault in the world. Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, recipient of the Vakhtang Gorgasali II class Order.
