Competed for Tbilisi Dinamo (1963-75) and the national team of the USSR (1972, Munich), third-prize winner of the XIX Olympics (1968 Mexico City), World Champion (1967) and a third-prize winner (1970), four-fold European Champion (1965, 1967, 1969, 1971) and a third-prize winner (1973), Winner of the USSR Cup (1969), best guard of the European Championship (1967), member of the World Symbolic Team (1967), the Best Georgian Athlete of the year (1967), Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. Holder of the Vakhtang Gorgasali II class Order and the Order of Honor. Died on January 25, 2004.
