Competed in Kutaisi “Dinamo” (1943-1946), Tbilisi “Dinamo” (1947-1958), and the national team of the USSR (1947-1955). He was the captain of the USSR nation team of (1953-1955). Second-prize winner of the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games, the three-fold European Champion (1947, 1951, 1953) and the third-prize winner (1955). Three-fold Champion of the USSR (1950, 1953, 1954), second-prize winner (1947) and twice third-prize winner (1948, 1952), two-fold winner of the USSR Cup (1949, 1950), Best player of the USSR Championship of (1952). Chief Coach of the USSR Youth National Team (1958-1962), Tbilisi “Dinamo” (1962-1967), and the women’s and men’s national teams of Cambodia (1968-1970). Under his coaching Tbilisi “Dinamo” won the European Champions Cup (1962). Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. Honored Coach of the USSR and Georgia, recipient of the Vakhtang Gorgasali III class Order and the Order of Honor.
